I've actually seen a lot of good news lately, but it often gets overshadowed by negative and sad news stories.

While I think it's important to highlight the wrongs that exist in our world, it's also important to keep some positivity, which ultimately can keep us heading in the right direction.

Stickers To Save Food? 🍌

A Columbian supermarket is introducing stickers on their fresh produce that will help reduce waste. The stickers indicate how the food can be used, as it moves through its cycle. For example, as bananas get browner, they can be used for tempura and cupcakes.

The Whales Are Back πŸ‹

After many years of declining populations, the grey whale population has been suffering. However, recent reports of new whales, swimming alongside their baby calves is bringing hope that the population can re-surface.

A Whale Set Free 🐳

Another whale story! Tokitae, an orca that has been in captivity for 50 years has a plan to return home. After lots of work by activists, Tokitae is set to be reunited with his family.

The Birds Are Back in Town 🦜

The emerald green hummingbird has long been missing from the Columbian forest but was recently been spotted. The bird is an indicator of returning ecosystems to the Colombian countryside.

The Whitest Paint Ever 🎨

Scientists have developed a paint that is so white when applied to buildings, it can reduce temperatures by 40% inside. They hope to use the paint to cool houses in neighbourhoods that cannot afford air conditioning.

No More Bottles β™»οΈπŸΎ

LAX has put a ban on single-use plastic bottles throughout its airport terminals. The airport was previously one of the highest consumers of single-use plastic bottles in the airport industry.

Horses fight wildfires 🐴

This is an interesting one. Spain, one of the only countries left to still have wild horses, has said that the horses feed mainly on small shrubbery, which is a leading cause of spreading wildfires. The horse population has significantly reduced wildfires' abilities to spread where the horses have been.

Swimmable River πŸŠβ™€οΈ

Ahead of the Olympics, Paris has a plan to make the Seine swimmable again. The city's ambitious plan hopes to make the waters swimmable so tourists and athletes alike can enjoy the river in the city!
