Slack-lining, Solar Panels, and HIV

Join me for this weeks episode of the good news-letter, where you can get your monday's dose of some good news!

Hello again!

And an unusual good evening (if you're in N or S America).

After a long weekend of relaxing, disconnecting, and resetting, I realized I didn't write my newsletter.

Then, a busy day catching up with work today.

Hence, the late newsletter.

But, I will deliver. Even if it's a short one.

If you want to see my excuse for being late, check out my most recent post on LinkedIn. I doubt you'll complain after seeing it.

In this letter, there is everything from slackliners to solar panels.

Enjoy!

Skytrain, but in Hawaii

Vancouver residents will be familiar with the Skytrain. Well, now there is one in Hawaii. The new train is hoping to make travel across Honolulu cheaper, and more accessible for locals and visitors.

Cargenie Medal for Slacklining

This slacklining enthusiast has received the United States' highest honour award for civil heroism. The Carnegie Award is usually given out in unusual circumstances where a civilian has shown courage and bravery.

Net zero by 2030

A new study shows that the renewable energy sector should be on track to hit net zero pollution by the end of the decade. The sector is still very reliant on non-renewable resources to be able to produce energy.

Landfills into solar energy

Hundreds of old garbage dumps are being turned into solar parks. The government initiative aims to reuse wasteland to produce reusable energy for the masses!

FDA-approved, no prescribed birth control

The FDA has approved Opill, an over-the-counter birth control bill which does not require a prescription for consumption. Most birth control requires a prescription at this time, which is a major barrier to many people due to cost, and ability to visit a doctor.

Everyone hates the HOA

Long hated by many, this Texas homeowners association was preventing renters who receive federal housing aid from living in their neighbourhood. A Texas court ruled that this was unconstitutional and that the association must change.

Tiny homes for veterans

This one has been in the news a lot recently. A bill introduced into the House of Representatives aims to use federal funding to build tiny homes for veterans. The US has the highest veteran homeless rate in the world.

Namibia to remove aids from its population

Namibia set an ambitious goal to remove HIV/AIDS from its population. The infection rate has become five times lower than it was in 2002.

And that's it, folks.

Sorry for the later letter.

Tune in next week for an on-time letter, which lots of fun stories.

And as always, I want to wrap up by saying, have a wonderful rest of your week!

Bye Bye 👋👋
